Impactions

Impaction is a condition where a tooth at any time or totally cannot erupt properly through the gum line either because of physical barriers or an abnormal position. Surgical extraction is one of the frequent methods in impaction management, especially when a tooth is highly symptomatic or has the possibility of causing other complications. Soft tissue incision covers the tooth for access in removing it totally or in pieces. Care after the surgery is important to ensure good healing and minimize complications. Preventive steps include regular dental check-ups that may highlight the potential impaction before it becomes symptomatic.
